Area measurements have a wide range of uses from the monitoring of skin features in healthcare, celestial bodies in astronomy, to determining furniture sizes in everyday indoor uses. Current measurement methods utilize some form of measuring tool and unless performed by skilled and trained professionals, human errors leading to inaccurate measurements can often arise. This is especially so for irregularly shaped objects with complex dimensions.
With the latest technologies enabling smartphones to work like mini computers, there are now numerous opportunities to use smartphones for the development of mobile apps. Given the multiple Operating Systems (OS) available, there is a significant demand for apps for the various platforms. To meet this demand, some apps exist to impart the necessary knowledge to make apps, while others make the programming of apps possible on these devices. Surveying both the Google Play and Apple App stores, there are a plethora of such programming apps, classified based on the various languages.
Quantifying reagents is a necessity in laboratory experiment planning but to do so with reasonable accuracy is a challenge when using unmarked containers. While there are volumetric measuring cylinders, the demand of sterility and purity in many experiments prevent their use in a feasible fashion. As a result, experienced estimation is usually relied upon, but this is fairly subjective, and may lead to large margins of error.
Surveys are used extensively to gather information from clinical, market, and psychological research studies. However, this process is time-consuming and error-prone especially with the tedious data entry. Psychvey is a web and mobile application that allows the easy design, creation, analysis, and taking part in surveys electronically. Collected data are easily exported into spreadsheets for subsequent statistical analysis, displacing the physical collection of survey responses and manual data entry.
StanXY is a free standalone native Android application. It is developed to provide convenience and efficiency to graph plotting. By simply downloading the application, StanXY provides the portability to easily plot graphs on the go as compared to manual plotting and desktop graphing software. The StanXY generates a best fit line based on a set of coordinates entered by the user. The equation of the line (y = mx + c) and its coefficient of determination (R2) are calculated and displayed.
